it's hot.

I am not getting along with this weather.  I really dislike having to run the air conditioning already but ours has been going nonstop for the past week.  I tried turning it off a little bit this morning but it did not last long.  And unfortunately before Rob left for work he stacked his bass gear in front of one of the vents and I am physically incapable of moving it.  Speaking of his bass gear, there is so much crap just sitting around our house that we can't do anything with.  My mom and dad were over yesterday doing some more demo on the basement and hopefully that will be done (fairly?) soon.  Which will be good because we need somewhere to put back all this stuff.  It is driving me crazy.

Also, can I tell you how many episodes of Criminal Minds/CSI Miami I watch every week now?  I've never been much of a TV person but crime shows just suck me in.  Especially Criminal Minds, because it's the most awesome.  Also I have a crush on Dr. Spencer Reid, which I feel is probably pretty normal for girls who watch the show.

I really need to clean.  Like, really, really badly.  I also need to exercise.  But both of those things are easier done if you feel even the slightest bit of energy, which I do not.  Ugh.

In other news, our last birthing class is tonight!  I do not know if I feel even slightly more prepared to physically bring another person into the world, but I guess I know more about the process.  And I still don't like watching birth stories.

The end.

(metal hands)

I really can't get enough of this album lately, mostly this song.
Don't mind the video...it's the only non-live one I could find.
Just listen.

Also, tonight I get to go be the pregnant chick at the metal show.
The Beneath reunion show tonight!  It's kind of a pain because Rob's car is even more broken than usual (won't go into 4th gear) and he needs to haul his bass gear so last night I had to swap out the Fit for my brother's Tundra (used to be my parents, I learned to drive on that truck!).

And how about these temperatures?  Shut up with the 90 degrees, May.  I really don't want to have to run the air conditioning all day long and it's not even summer yet!  This is going to be a long, hot summer for my fellow pregnant women.

Speaking of!  Last night Rob and I went with my brother out to East Fork state park campground to visit some friends who were camping, including my dear friend Brittany who is also pregnant, also due in August, and is also having a boy!  I was her RA when she was a freshman in college and she's extra hilarious and it was really good to see her and her husband, Zac!  Also Zac's sister Ashley showed up right as we were leaving.  She was in my program in college, lived next door to me our sophomore year, and we played soccer together!  She ALSO is pregnant, due in August, and having a boy!  Crazy.

Anyway...off for Saturday morning laundry :)

about today

I totally talked Rob into letting me get some Salt-water sandals for myself as an early birthday present.  Totally worth it; they are just as dreamy in person as I always imagined.  They are sooo comfortable.

Tomorrow I have my next doctor's appointment and I have to take my glucose intolerance test.  Hopefully I pass and don't have gestational diabetes/anemia/anything else that's bad news.  I am 28 weeks this week and after tomorrow I will go to the doctor every 2 weeks.  Crazy to think in 12 short weeks we are going to  have a baby.  WE are going to have a BABY.  Sometimes I have moments of panic wondering if I/we are ready.  Also people say some of the weirdest things to you when you're pregnant.  Anyway.  Mostly I am super excited.

Now I am watching 50/50 by myself while Rob plays video games.  Video games.  A tool of the devil used to strain marriages and other relationships.  JUSTSAYING.

the life

I have to be honest about something: I am loving not having a job.  I'm in my second week as an employed woman and I seriously feel so relaxed and like I am actually getting things done that I want to do.  Well, to an extent.  Exhaustion has really been kicking in the past couple weeks of this pregnancy and I have a feeling it's just the start of a tiresome summer.  I generally take a 1-2 hour nap every day, when I can.  It seems to help.

Example of awesome: today I cleaned the kitchen, living, and dining room as well as our bedroom and did three loads of laundry, and took a nap and it was still daylight after all of that.  It was a great feeling.

Also, birthing class last night was not bad.  It was two hours, from 7-9pm, and the first hour was just talking and following (ish) an outline and various handouts which was pretty much just like being in a disorganized college class and then the second hour was the stereotypical stuff you think about when you think birthing class as in we had mats and had to get down into various positions.  Rob had to practice massaging me, hahahaha.

Well, now I am just watching Step Up 2: The Streets and not even feeling bad about it.  Tomorrow (FINALLY) my dad is supposed to come over and get something done on the basement.  I'm getting a little antsy because I have a huge desire to start fixing up the second bedroom for Eli.  There is so much to do for that.  My grandpa even gave me a vintage wardrobe that I can paint for his room!  Speaking of Eli, I went a little crazy at Baby Gap the other day.  I found all these super cute little things on the sale rack that ranged from  97 cents to 8 dollars that were originally between 20 and 40 dollars!  It's nice because all the winter stuff is on super discount and it's the right size/season for Eli when he is 3-6 months.  He's going to be a stylin' little babe.

tonight

is the night we start classes which are supposed to teach us how to birth a child.  I'm a little bit nervous, for whatever reason.  I'm too tired to be too nervous, though.  Seriously.  Oh my gosh, I'm so tired.

In other news, there is no other news.

Until next time!

look!

Guys!  Guys!  I got plants today!  Actually, I got them yesterday.  I convinced my mom to go with me to Lowe's to pick out appropriate houseplants.  I wanted succulents, because, well, they are low maintenance.  And pretty.

And now look!

I went over to her house today and we arranged and potted them.  I love them!  And in picture number two, yes, I did buy an owl plant stake at Target.  I couldn't even say no.

But then!

My mom gave me these AWESOME horse pictures.  Apparently my grandma had them lying around the house and asked my mom to see if I would want them for the baby's room.  UM, YES GRANDMA THANK YOU.  I am literally going to paint the room to make these work.  I love them.

Good day, folks.  It has been a good day.

TWO

days and I am a free woman.

This may be the most pathetic I've ever been regarding a job.  Little girl tells me every day she wants me to stay because she loves me, but all I can think about is being done there.  Do I have a soul?

I am so excited for a relaxing summer.  Sure, money may be tight for a little while.  But, I am super thankful for having a husband who supports my desire to be a stay-at-home mom, and also encouraged me to be done with this job even before the baby is here.

Seriously, Rob has been urging me to quit this gig since last August.  But I think that's mostly because he's sick of me complaining.

Anyway...there are things I want to do this summer.  I have plans, guys.

1. Pool time.  I plan on spending a lot of time in my parents' pool.  Seriously.  Pool + pregnant belly = heaven.

2. Sewing.  I once started a fox pillow and would like to finish it.  I also really, really want to try and make this dress because it's adorable.  We'll see how that one goes.  I just discovered that girl's blog the other day and stalked the crap out of it.

3. Various home crafts and projects.  I have been thinking I want to bring some plant life into our house.  We have ever attempted to house 1 (one) singular plant in our abode, and it really didn't work out.  I think we should try again, and after seeing this DIY I thought "how perfect!  sign me up!"

4. Exercise.  I haven't been doing it so much.  I know I just talked about these gym memberships, but I really do not exercise like I should.  I am hoping having time during daylight will inspire me to get up and moving a bit more.

5. Flea markets + thrift stores.  I have decided to get over my fear of used items (bed bugs...I am terrified of bed bugs to the point it is irrational) and venture out and about and find some affordable additions for our house; I have some things in mind.

6. Furniture updating.  A good portion of the furniture in our home is antique.  But not just any antique, antique that I have sentimental attachment to.  Both of our dressers are antique, one from my aunt and the other from my grandpa, dating to the early 1900s.  Same for our beautiful, round, claw foot dining table, which was my aunt's father's until he passed away.  The hutch in our dining room was passed down to us, a wedding gift from my grandpa to my parents, who passed it down to us when we got married, etc etc.  I cannot bring myself to touch any of this stuff with paint because I feel I will be desecrating it in some way.  I even felt guilty buying new knobs for my dresser after several of the original wooden ones finally broke off.  HOWEVER, now that little Eli is on the way, I have a few pieces of non-sentimental furniture that has been given to me that I can't wait to revamp.

There's some other stuff too, including cleaning the crap out of our house and helping my dad with our basement, etc etc but you get the picture.

THIS IS THE GREATEST YEAR EVER.
