rainy days & chocolate cake

About today.

All I want to do is eat sugar.

Like, I can't get enough of it.

We had nothing immediately available tonight when I got home so instead of going without, I baked a cake.  Yep, at 9:00 PM I baked a cake out of sheer desperation for a sugar fix.

Also, the rain.

Whatever, rain.

Whenever it rains, I want to listen to Moving Mountains.  Really, I always want to listen to Moving Mountains. I love this band so much, you don't even know.

This band is one of two shows I have ever attended by myself.  The first was Aqualung.  I can't help it that I was obsessed with the song Strange and Beautiful.  That ended up being solo because the guy I was dating at the time did not want to go (lame).  Moving Mountains was solo because Rob had Capstone at the time (lame).  Let me tell you, this band is the LOUDEST live band I have ever seen.  It's okay though, because they rule.

my feet hurt.

Today little girl and I decided to go to the park.  Now, they live in Oakley - right behind Hyde Park Plaza, so when we say we are going to the park, we either go to Oakley Playground, or venture a little further up Marburg to what we call "Marburg playground" as I am unaware of an official name.  However, today was so nice we decided to walk to Ault Park.  Now driving distance, Ault Park is not far from her house.  But walking, even at a brisk pace, will take you at least forty minutes.  In the summer, we did this usually two or three times a week, which was fine, because I was generally prepared for it, wearing proper shoes and whatnot.

Today I was not prepared.  And I was wearing flats.  Flats with no socks (duh).  After the eighty-minute round-trip that was largely up hill, my feet are frickin' destroyed.  I have so many blisters it hurts to walk.  Major fail.

In other news, after work I visited my friend Aly and she made us dinner.  It was super fun and good to hang out with a friend on my own.  I have had approximately two other girl times since before Christmas, so I am more of less socially out of practice.  Honestly, I just need more friends.  Being married is awesome, but I can definitely feel the isolation from my unmarried friends.  And most of my friends are unmarried.  Sad but true. About the isolation, that is.  Not the unmarried part.

That may or may have not been a desperate plea for friends.

Now Rob is finally home from work so I am going to go snuggle him.  So umm...bye.

not even trying to brag,

but i actually do believe rob chipman is the cutest boy in the entire world.

factors contributing to making this day awesome:
1. sunshine.
2. little girl took a *THREE* hour nap <<HOLY AWESOME.
3. donato's with almonds & pepperoni.
4. reiteration: cute husband.

Also to note, I made some effort in updating my header temporarily.  However, I am apparently not tech literate enough to do it properly.  Halp?

weekend summary

This weekend was pretty uneventful.  I mainly wanted to be productive, but that didn't work out so much.

Friday - After work, I went straight to my momma's house to fix those bangs that I hacked on a few days ago.  I now sport super shortie bangs, similar to, but not-possibly-as-hott-as, my girl crush, alison sudol.

Saturday - Clean. clean. cleancleancleancleanclean.  That is mostly what I do on Saturday.  When I wake up, I immediately start laundry.  And then I s l o w l y make my way through each room.  Of course, by Sunday evening, you can hardly tell anymore.  Then we spent the rest of the night watching tons and tons of Monster.  The plot is getting increasingly convoluted, no thanks to the blatantly obvious translation issues with the English subtitles.

Sunday - Church, and then Hannah and I went to the museum center.  Um.  Then Rob and I went to the bank and accidentally went shopping for five hours.  We checked out the Newport Target which opened today.  Holy crap. Do you even know how excited I am that Target is now two minutes from my house?  Budget: compromised.  Now finished the evening watching Independence Day.  And realizing, after reviewing my weekend activities, that I am extremely unexciting.

ideas i will not use but thought i'd share anyway.

So if you perhaps are one of the people lovely enough to read this blog from time to time, you may remember me mentioning I was going to work on some ideas for a site logo/header/whatever.  Well, I sketched some junk the other week and finally got around to slapping them over some backgrounds in Photoshop.  Now,a couple disclaimers: 1.) I am in no way proficient in Photoshop.  In fact, the last time I messed around in the program was when I was a sophomore in high school in my computer graphics class.  Luckily Rob was grading in the same room as me so I could holler for him every time I had an issue (approx. every 30 seconds).  2.) I wanted it to look like rough sketchiness on paper slapped over another background, preferably water color (mixed media = <3) so the crappiness is on purpose :) and 3.) I know these are not so great and I will not be using them.  Back to the drawing board (literally.)

community?

Since Rob has started his solo teaching effort at ye olde Cincinnati State Community and Technical College, he has experienced what so many of us who have ventured into the field of education battle with on a regular basis: student apathy/laziness/idiocy.

Every Tuesday night, I can almost guarantee I am going to fall asleep to the sound of him ranting about the kids in his class and how inept they are.

Tuesday night has continued on to Wednesday evening as he has been grading their midterms.  You can bet he is yet again blown away at how poorly they have done.

"Just because you go to a community college doesn't mean you are an idiot." -me

"True.  But there's a greater chance that you are." -rob

He can say it because he is a community college grad.

I think next Tuesday, if I get off of work in time, I am sitting in on his class to see if I have any 'pointers' on teaching effectiveness.

lolz.

This is funny.

hahahahahahahaha.

I'm currently enjoying stalking the circa 2004-2007 version of myself.
